The High Dive To Lo-Fi, Vol. II

by The Aimless Never Miss

/
1.
If the sun didn't rise would you still get out of bed Or would you sew up your eyes and keep on dreaming instead Cuz the sun doesn't care if you don't get out of bed Yeah nobody cares if you don't care about them So do you care about them And if you have doubts You may as well shout it out Cuz everyone has doubts about The purpose of a purposeless art We've been offered everything in champagne bottles Stripped of all their dignity We'll lift them up to our parched lips We can't even swallow But we'll sing a toast to deities we've never known With hints that something's gone amiss We can't even talk about it Salutations are all we know If it all comes crashing down Like the walls of Jericho Will we blame demons, or ourselves For everything that we've done
2.
Spinning 03:58
We've been chasing our own horses heels Hypnotized by spectacles unreal There's a penalty we pay for every dollar we make Another nickle out of pocket from a reticent slave They say you'll never make an omelet without breaking some eggs So would you like a side of terror today? You cannot believe in what you're seeing Between the parlor tricks and double speak You wanna shout, WHAT IS IT ALL EVEN ABOUT!?! And when the aliens call our testimony And all their faces stare in disbelief What would you say? We're just spinning ourselves around We're all insane Maybe it's time for some kind of intelligent life To try and pick up every piece of this plate It's probably cynical of me to admit it this way, But I'd kinda like to see the look on your face It'd be like walking in on 4 year olds with guns in their hands No point in reasoning, it's obvious they don't understand We're always racing into places without having a plan What part of killing do we not understand You simply cannot believe in what you read It's all just politics and double speak You wanna shout, WHAT IS IT ALL EVEN ABOUT!?! When there's a difference between our points of view We always polarize - that's nothing new We can't stop spinning ourselves around, and around, and around...
3.
Many times we've marched in to some town Playing instruments of violence Singing our nation's anthem, in rounds Over instruments of violence Falling out on our kin, propped up on the strings of a marionette Staring at the back of eyelids, for love and country we must do this For the power of man flows down from a point of origin, then drowns In a blaze of pain and spilled blood There's nobody to blame but us It's a crime of hate and fortune Amplifying their hate for you
4.
Sometimes it pays to notice when Your life repeats itself, again 'Cuz some hearts are like a mint For forging counterfeits that cash too quick And we all like to spend We are banks of promises But tomorrow you won't like the sound of it It's too bad it's a fact - yeah there's nothing you can do about it And it's pointless to even try to ignore it It's like an Andy Warhol pic, unframed, left in a ditch As the colors bleed Through the layers of silk screen Like memories That you're not sure if you should believe
5.
6.
At the top of a treacherous grade There's a place where friends are made By sharing stories over a struggling fire in the pouring rain And in a house that some hobos designed We burned our socks just to try to stay dry A familiar melody I've never heard uncorks in my mind 'Cuz even though my legs are dead I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no Even though I look inbred I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no A horsefly made it's nest in my bed But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no My bank account just hit the red But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no! Yeah even though my legs are dead I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no Even though my butt burns red I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no Yeah that horsefly made it's nest in my bed But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no My bank account just hit the red But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no I don't mind, no, I don't mind, no!
7.
Sharp Teeth 03:56
It's 6 in the morning My mind's wondered out the front door I'm trying to remember how my body goes When my body goes somewhere else entirely Retires me Where's solice Where's solice for me I think it might be better if the devil would talk to me Remind me that it's stupid for me to care about anyone or anything 'Cuz its difficult to ignore what I am seeing right in front of me Yeah, its difficult to ignore what I am seeing right in front of me Could you hold your breath in silent dissent While your face screams in protest Could you bite your tongue, spit your blood on the floor Lift your head, and smile with a big grin of sharp teeth
8.
I feel like a big black hole today Anything that gets near me will probably pay I feel like an asshole if I ask you to stay 'Cuz there's nothing romantic that I want to say This mood is contagious, so please go away
